It's not SLI / Crossfire, the cards are running independently of each other and are not linked in any way.

They each compute different parts of BOINC/ F@H.

If you're thinking this is will work in gaming, it won't (Besides some DX12 Rumors).

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

It exists but it's useless (for gaming)..

The point of that video (err, the SLI+ CF video that was done a few months back) is to demonstrate the absurdity of having gaming technologies (physx, mantle, etc) locked to only one GPU vendor instead of being shared between both.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Uh, no it's not. Wrong video you're thinking of.

No, they are both working separately. Though I heard DX12 may allow AMD and Nvidia cards to be crossfired/SLI'd though not sure how accurate that is.

Technically DX12 can allow for multiple different GPUs to be used together, but anyone whose looked at Nvidia's (and to a lesser extent, AMD's) history knows that there is an extremely low low chance of them actually allowing users to do that.

I mean, they prevent people from SLI'ing a 680 with a 770 even though they're the same damn GPU, so why the hell would they let you SLI one with a R9-280x?

Yeah I noticed that.. That's why I edited the little disclaimer in parenthesis into that sentence..

Who knows what Directx 12 will bring to the table.
