Safe GPU temps?

So I bought an MSI Twin Frozr 980 and I ran FurMark and the temperature that the card was at was 72 degrees, I would just like to ask what the "healthy" range of temperatures is for the 980,and if overclocking wouldn't hurt?

FurMark bakes the GPU, it doesn't test much stability wise. It's perfectly fine for the 980 to run at that temp. Use something like Valley Benchmarks on extreme settings.

If GPU's don't go over 80-85C at max load (not with FurMark though) they're fine. AMD GPU's are built to go higher than that, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah you are stressing it for test purposes so 72 is pretty good for FurMark, if a GPU hits 90+ outside of  Benchmarking software then you should be worried.

While playing gta v at 1600 X 900 the card is at 70 ish degrees, can I overclock?

Yes, also you can adjust your fan profile in order to find the right balance of cooling and temperature.

You get those temps on stock clock while playing? That seems rather high, but I don't know the 980. Does it get enough fresh air?

I don't think it will be justifiable to overclock with these temps.

Ahh lets just say I put in a turbo charged V8 inside a prius. (Aka 980 in a Acer aspire M1930, yea, still don't know how I managed) But I am getting fans soon, but they will be outside of the case if possible *said in a guilty voice*.
