FurMark bakes the GPU, it doesn't test much stability wise. It's perfectly fine for the 980 to run at that temp. Use something like Valley Benchmarks on extreme settings.

While playing gta v at 1600 X 900 the card is at 70 ish degrees, can I overclock?

If GPU's don't go over 80-85C at max load (not with FurMark though) they're fine. AMD GPU's are built to go higher than that, but I wouldn't recommend it.

While playing gta v it is at 75-78 degrees, would overclocking be an option or should I avoid doing it?

You get those temps on stock clock while playing? That seems rather high, but I don't know the 980. Does it get enough fresh air?

I don't think it will be justifiable to overclock with these temps.

Ahh lets just say I put in a turbo charged V8 inside a prius. (Aka 980 in a Acer aspire M1930, yea, still don't know how I managed) But I am getting fans soon, but they will be outside of the case if possible *said in a guilty voice*.
