I have a $1,000 to about $1,200 budget for my new computer. I would say I know a bit, not a lot, about computers and I would appreciate it if any of you guys would give me some help and feedback on the build I made up. I'm going to use this computer for mainly gaming and school. The games I play would be GTA V, Dying Light, and a few others at preferably 1080p high settings. I already have peripherals and a monitor. I don't think there's anything I have left to say, so here's the build. :)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($49.99 @ Newegg)

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($100.98 @ Newegg)

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($67.89 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($339.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($68.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Total: $1108.70

Change the SSD to a crucial, Intel or Kingston (Not the V300)

Look into the Seagate Barracuda 3TB, 1 TB more for $10 less http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=1310560&sku=TSD-3000AS2&SRCCODE=WEM4497VD&utm_source=EML&utm_medium=main&utm_campaign=WEM4497&cm_lm=4c9d7e08ea0994e08b9ad7265fb7a143&SEG=D&lk=5

Change gpu to a 290x, will free up some money.

Use the money saved into a better cooler.

not sure if true, but i personally wouldnt risk it.

(ps, its *only* the 3TB drives, all else is good)

Why would he change the SSD, the one he has in there now, is more than fine. Just because you don't like Samsung, doesn't mean you should steer people away from them, They make some of the best SSD's on the market.

@JoeRandom32 I'd suggest ignoring his suggestions as they are completely useless. You have a solid build there.

Yeah test by BlackBlaze? Its not that reliable, the data still isint considered that "Valid"

But op, if you want, you can get some cheaper 2TB HDD.

850 EVO uses the same NAND as the 840 EVO, Not that reliable.

And, my suggestions DO make sense,

1. SSD already explained.

2. 1 TB more for less money is a really good deal, considering Seagates are faster

3. 290X will save money

4. That cooler he has can be beaten by air coolers, h100i will be better

i heard the samsung 850 evo series was quite good, i dont have experience here tho.

i'd personally recommend a 2TB drive, of whatever brand balances cost and reliability, and falls in preference.

the 290x is cheaper, but also slightly less powerful, its a preference thing. also, heat. (and to be honest, i've been hearing a lot of bad things about CCC lately)

i'm personally an air cooler guy, and seeing of the recent *issue* kyle (awesomesauce) had, i'm considering going back to pushing for air coolers.

EDIT: some 290Xs are slower, some are faster than the 970, basicly they're equal, depending on the specific model you pick.

Are you geting that H60 cooler for looks? Because air cooler for that price will perform better.

WD Black drive is a waste of money prety much for your use. Get Seagate Barracuda 2TB.

Any recommendations for a good air cooler? I will get the Seagate 2TB over the WD Black

I'm not sure what SSD to get now, either stay with Samsung, or to get a crucial, kingston, or intel. I'm also not sure which GPU to get now lol, between the 970 or 290x.

Anyone also recommend a good CPU cooler, air or liquid?

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk013

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cryorig-cpu-cooler-h5universal

Both of these will perform at least as good as H60 but expect slightly better performane out of them. Also they will be much more silent.

EDIT:

just check the RAM compatibility for the be quiet! one because I am not sure if your RAM will fit bellow it because of the heat spreader on it.

EDIT2:

I checked it. You can use only standard height RAMs at most. -> The RAM you listed wont fit.

my girlfriend has the shadow rock 2 slapped to an overclocked i5, it runs both cool and quiet.

i also heard the shadow rock 2 has an AMAZINGLY easy mounting system.

as for SSD, i'm not too sure.

the 970 or 290x comes down to preference.

either you deal with the extra heat of a 290x, and the horribleness that is CCC, or you pay a bit more, get a slightly less furnace-like GPU, the not-as-much-but-still-horrible nvidia control panel & geforce experience.

i personally have an asus strix GTX970, and at a load of 30% the fan only spins 30-50% of the time, and my entire system is barely audible.

if a 290x owner could hop in here and talk about their noise experience with their gpu that'd be nice.

I dont know about the mounting system on Shadow Rock 2. I own Dark Rock Pro 2 and that one has really bad mounting system :D I dont know how I managed to mount it myself without help when I was first time mounting it because after that I needed second person everytime and we both struggled  :D .

i have a dark rock 3, and of the hour i spent on building my pc, half an hour went into the cooler...

the trick seemed to be to balance the system on the edge of my desk, using the PSU as counterweight, placing the cooler on the cpu, and screwing from the bottom up.

this is whats holding me back of popping off the cooler, as i feel like i have a bad mount going on, because my temps are a tad high.

TLDR: get a shadow rock 2 over a dark rock 3.

No problem, just keep in mind that you must use only standart height RAM because the one you listed has too big heat spreader (it wont fit under the fan on the cooler).

Not sure if you have read it above as I edited my post and the EDIT part was not in your quote ;) Just saying again to be safe.

Yep, i put your quote in before your edit.

Will this RAM work with the shadow rock 2? https://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cml8gx3m2a1866c9r

Edit: If there's any other options for RAM that's better, please tell me if you don't mind.
