Posted April 23, 2015 Author Any particular budget ? I don't know... maybe $350 Australian? Which is, let me see, about $270 US? Mind you, I might be able to find some components for cheaper in other retailers. Also, a 280 or 240 Rad would probably be fine. Whatever combination or choice. 50Cent sweg. Probably lol Add 100$ for every big component ( 100 for a rad , 100 for a gpu and 100 for a cpu ) that's as low as I would go . Posted April 23, 2015 - I don't know if that pump / res combo comes with a pump , it looks like just a top and a res ( although the descriptions hints at a pump ) - I would get this cpu block ( it's black ) https://www.ple.com.au/ViewItem.aspx?InventoryItemId=616126 I would get 10/16 tubing and fittings , it's thicker so that it doesn't crumple ( you can change this if you want ) . Posted April 23, 2015 Took me a while to look over the whole thread... all these retailers..so I would not recommend PE360 from EK. You can find thinner and lower fpi rad to place at front. The airflow restricted in H440 is not going to be a major problem for your loop, but it definitely has its impact. The lower fpi the better imo. Also, in order to mount a Res/pump combo, I would highly recommend thinner rads which lowest could be 30mm thick. That I found.Alphacool ST30 360mm would be my choice. The less than 10mm difference may seem useless, but in my experience with PE360 and standard 25mm thick fan, it actually needs a less than 5mm in order to fit my res/pump combo with the stand from BP to the desired place without running into the psu cover. If you are going to use a ddc, instead of a D5, I guess it won't matter. Keep in mind H440 is a silent case, not to let you overclock the hell out of your system even if you watercool.
 I was thinking he was going to get 1 rad ( to save $$ on rad and fans ) and put it at the top . Also , you can have a silent case while OC'ing , I have my 5820k oc'd , my R9 290's OC'd , and everything is (was) water cooled . Recommend what is best, not what you preffer. I'mma bit of a noob. Yes , those are compatible, but please note that that is very large tubing . Take 3/4 of an inch , that is the size of the tube , and immagine that . I ( personally ) preffer 10/16, but if you go 13/19 ( 1/2 , 3/4 ) know that everything has to match . Also know that larger tubing makes no difference in temps or anything else . To make a drain : http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_300_1325&products_id=22877 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_300_1325&products_id=11731 The stop goes into the extender , the extender comes out of your res / lowest point . The drain is the last thing you need to think about ( it changes depending on everything else ) . So have you gotten all the pieces in mind ? Could you make a drawing of the loop ( using paint or other , even if it's not pretty ) ? Recommend what is best, not what you preffer. Thank you for clearing it for me, I wasnt paying attention, but it's actually the same thing because the top has a cover as well as the front. I didnt say it cant have it oc+silent, i said it is going to be an impact... if you take off the front or top panel of the H440, you should be seeing temperature dropping.. I am saying this base on my own experience. This is a video for the reference. Its that H440 top&front panel(whichever one) will hinder your airflow in. Of course, this is a case by case situation since it really depends on your tdp. To over come this, again he doesn't have to if he's comfortable with the temps he got. He can add more fans in p/p or higher speed fans, but that would destroy the silence part of the case design. Therefore, I am suggesting to get a low fpi, thin rad at wherever he wants to mount. A 4790k+980 isnt hot by any standard One thing noted, I think if he places a PE360 on top will be fine since Z97 Sabertooth doesnt have a big mosfet heatsink, but the OP really needs to make sure of that. When placing the rad on top , there is much less performance than removing the front cover ( the front cover blocks a lot) I tested with and W/o the top cover , with a 240mm rad , the difference was 1.5°c on the cpu, but at the front of the case it was 5°c + and the fans could spin slower . As you said , a i7+980 is about ~300-400w to dissipate , that could be done by a 280mm rad, but I think that 360mm should be fine and quiet enough ( you will probably hear coil whine or pump noise over the fans ) Recommend what is best, not what you preffer. Ok , re-looking at the loop , the drain will come out of the pump , with the current set-up you will need to tip the case on the side and use the extension to poor into a bucket . Except for that , I would get more coolant just in case ; The rad is 4 cm , so I would put a fan in the top of the case and see if you have ~4cm extra . Great watercooling build !
