My guess is because they are very cheap and have a keyboard

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

I agree, if you need to do lots of typing on the go, this is the cheapest option. Although I guess you could connect a keyboard to your smartphone/tablet.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

I have to say, for 74 bucks I'm tempted myself... if it had ubuntu it would be an instant buy (that is, if I didn't have my nexus 7 on crack). The appeal is the price, the fact that you get a decent size keyboard, the full size usb ports and the trackpad.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

LOL! my phone is 5.5in!

why even tablet?

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Some Android laptops, such as Toshiba AC100 can run Ubuntu.

I think it's a case of this has a keyboard, it can run a browser and note taking stuff, and it's stupid cheap, which is kinda nice for a machine that's gonna spend a decent amount of its life in a bag.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11

...at 330 bucks. For comparison, my nexus 7 has a faster cpu, a great screen and is running ubuntu in dual boot with android, and only came in at 250 bucks including bluetooth mouse and keyboard. This netbook makes sense for the price, of course if I spent 6 times as much I could go and buy a windows convertible with a quad core atom...

Not at 74 bucks. Some tablets can run ubuntu too (including mine), but it takes a decent amount of messin around, definitely an advanced user sort of task.

I don't think non-advanced users need Ubuntu on a mobile device :D

That's what they all think, and then they realize android lacks multi-window multitasking and other functionalities that we take for granted on desktops and laptops. Since windows is not going to happen on something that slow, at least ubuntu offers a solid compromise between features and user-friendliness.
