Hey new here was hoping to get some advice with my current set up and what I can do to improve it.

1. Budget & Location

$400 CAD Canada

2. Aim
Gaming- WoW GTA LoL
3. Monitors
Duel  ASUS MX239 (1920x1080@60Hz)
4. Peripherals
Have all needed except a nice speaker+sub system if anyone recommends a decently priced one
5. Why are you upgrading?

Game performance

Motherboard issues

Heat issues

So my current set up has couple issues;

- Crossfire GPU's having heat issues/game

- Motherboard buggy as well as Ports not working

- Cant play the games at near full graphics without issues

What I planned to do was replace the Motherboard, RAM, GPU and gets some advice on overclocking

Current set up;

So that's it, if anyone can help me decide on a fix to these issues or advice on upgrades/overclock I will appreciate it. Just want some help deciding how to go about improving my setup any replies will help :)

I think the CPU should be good for some time, maybe invest in a new GPU ?

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

upgrade the GPU to a single like the GTX980 or R9 290X

then put more OC to the CPU

you got a SandyBridge than can go up to 4.5GHz

if you got a CPU cooler just go for the dem GHz

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

you wouldn't recommend replacing motherboard or ram?

the main issue with the motherboard i'm having is the Ethernet port. it no longer works and i'm forced to use a usb Ethernet adapter which for some reason disconnects for a split second but by that time in gaming situations its too late. tried everything to resolve the disconnects but nothing I found helped

use a proper ethernet PCI-E card

As said, get a PCIe ethernet. You may even want to get a Wi-fi one, as it'll be useful if you ever need it. Cabled is always better, but just having the option to go wifi in a pinch is a very nice addition.

Anyway, for the upgrades, I'd recommend trying to get a used 290x or 970. That's the best for you. You don't need to upgrade RAM. In fact, doing so is just a waste, considering that we are on the verge to switch to DDR4. You can get a new mobo + CPU + DDR4 ram in your next big system upgrade.
