Suitable PSU for i5 4690k & GTX 980?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Your current psu should be fine.

Looking for a good average priced PSU for an i5 4690K & GTX 980.

Planning to upgrade to the above in a few weeks, currently have an EVGA 500W White PSU (P/N 100-W1-0500-KR) but I have been recommended to upgrade it to a better quality one.

Multiple options would be a great help,

PS: any mobo recommendations as well ?

Cheers in advance! x

600w should be fine even a bit overkill.

I run a 4770k @4,2ghz and sli gtx970 on a 650w gold seasonic psu.

That EVGA psu only has a single 6+2 pin pci-e connector so it isn't ideal.

It has 2x 8pin (6+2).

I'll probably eventually upgrade to a better quality PSU after a while. I keep hearing everyone recommend XFX 550W or 650W.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Yes you are correct. I only had a quick look at this website which lists it as a single 8 pin - http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page2293.htm

Anyway if you do upgrade then the XFX XTR is indeed a very good power supply.
