PSU motherboard 24 pin doesn't fit to power supply

Okay so long story short, my friends power supply stopped working so I said to send it back to EVGA. I said send it back as if you were selling it on ebay or something so they will have no problem fixing it. So he sends it without the cables and just sent the unit off, they come back with a 'newer version' today and apparently the motherboard pin doesn't fit in the slot... see pictures that he sent me... I have no idea what he is on about, I thought that all power cables were exactly the same and have been for years, I don't think I'm wrong here.

He originally had this one http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-G1-0750-XR

And they sent him back the newer version, and apparently it the 24 pin cable doesn't fit in the power supply http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-G2-0750-XR

wrong end. There should be an 18 + 10 end.

The one you're holding should go in the actual motherboard.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Guys, can you read what I said first, I said that he only sent off the psu unit, not the cables, so EVGA obviously assumed he had the cables still and just sent him the unit back, if he did what I said in the first place then probably wouldn't have this problem, i'm just wondering why they would change a universal unit that hasn't been changed like... ever

Corsair PSUs also have the 24pin split on the psu side its nothing new.

Just ask EVGA. they have great customer service. No idea why they sent you only half the psu though. Its not like they need the cables...

I think this post was meant to be about the change between G1 and G2 and the fact that EVGA didn't send the cables for G2, which isn't a problem because EVGA are very helpful and im sure will send him the correct ones ASAP

Any particular reason why?

You're really putting a bad vibe on LTT Forums, if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say it, i'm only asking for help as i'm not with my friend right now he's just texted me these pictures and all the info he's given me, I have given in the description. Either lay off the salt, or just leave

Whoa... don't bring the entirety of the forum into this. He simply meant that you, or your friend... should have noticed the 18+10 connectors before hand.

The EVGA G1 and EVGA G2 are totally different platforms. The cables are not interchangeable.

You will need to ask EVGA to send you a correct set of cables.
