difference between i5-3570K and i5-4690K

Will there be a huge difference between these two while gaming? I have MSI gtx 970 as GPU. I wanted to buy the i5-4690K, but the 3570K is one sale. So I am asking you guys.

The 4690k is about 3% faster at the same cock speeds. Just keep in mind, the 3570k needs a Z77 board.

No there is almost no difference in performance between the two. They require different motherboards though.

No there will not be a big difference. The 4690K is just newer and a little faster. I believe that is the only difference.

no big difference, only difference is they run on two different sockets. 3570k z77, 4690k z97.

i would go for the 4690k cause it's newer, i guess.

the difference will be clear when a game uses more than two cores, as hyperthread is only 10% faster (EDIT: 10% in most cases) , and the i5 pretty much doubles performance. (when using all cores)

They are both i5's..

No difference, just depends on the price/availability of compatible motherboards.

3%? cmon, atleast do your research;

http://anandtech.com/bench/product/701?vs=1261

That's 20%. Actual boostclocks are nearly the same. 3.6 vs 3.7 I believe. So it's a little less than 20%.

I wouldn't replace it either, but there is no point in making up statistics to prove a point.

You need to level up your 1-handed skill to compensate.

Already maxed :\

If you already had the 3570k, I'd say don't upgrade, but since you're starting fresh, you should probably go with the z97 boards for future proofing. The LGA 1155 chipset is a few generations old now, and I think you would be better off getting this gen's equivalent of the 3570k.

Then buy the 4690k. The 3570k will NOT run on that z97 board.
