Overclocking i5 4690k

Go to solution Solved by CalebTheEternal,

Dont use the h100i. Its not designed for overclocking.

What?! The H100i is great.. I have one and I am running high clocks and my temps never go above 70 C I am running 4.7 right now

I've got a GTX 970 SC from EVGA, and a i5 4690k, and I can't figure out how to overlock it on my motherboard, Linus's guide didn't work with my MB.

I am using Z97 Gaming 7 from MSI, I've got an H100i cooler for my CPU, could anyone help me or find me a guide? google didn't help.

The reason I want to overclock it is because it's somehow bottlenecking my GPU, I keep getting stutters in some games, most noticeable on GTA V.

My friend is running the same GPU with an i7 and he's running everything smooth on about 50 FPS higher then im getting.

Turn on and spam DELETE until you get to your BIOS screen then go to OC Settings then change Ratio to 48 and CPU Core Voltage to 1.3v

Then other can explain how to get lower voltage.

GTA V is just a new game

it still having issues and nVidia is rolling out an update for the drivers to work with the game

you might have fast boot enabled

MSI should have a software to boot to BIOS

use that to go to BIOS

Dont use the h100i. Its not designed for overclocking. My source is intel themselves.

Try going for a coolermaster seidon 140mm for cooling. Its better, and was meant with OCing in mind.

If you alrwady have the H100i, Sucks I didn't catch you in time to twll you to get something else.

I've already had the seidon and it couldn't cool my CPU enough, I have had alot of issues with it, what is wrong with the H100i?

The h100i is not necessarily bad, but it has a reputation among some users of having a failure-prone pump, and a lot of their retail models have come leaking out of the box. If you get a good one, they're terrific, but if you get a bad one, you're pretty much screwed.

Also, I have the Seidon 240M, and it works brilliantly. 70°C at 5GHz on my 2600K. The 140mm isn't the best in the world for balls-to-the-wall OCing. you're always advised to go with the biggest cooler you can afford and fit in your case.

First off, it's not bottlenecking anything lol.

Check your VRAM usage and see if it's over 3.5GB.

As for overclocking, spam delete, click on OC settings, and change the multiplier/Bclock/Voltage to your desired settings.

I have all the latest drivers and I just can't figure out how to overclock in my BIOS, I can't choose/click some of the features, and you basiclly have the same PC as me, could you maybe talk me through it on skype or something? How to OC with this MSI BIOS?

If you REALLY need help, I can help you... But it's oh so simple.
