Which do you guys think should i prioritise an SSD or a 4690k when building a PC on a budget.

What other CPU would you get?

Ye from scratch. Budget is €900 in Ireland

Been playing on a laptop for 6 years, I play Dota 2 with 10fps. Some might say this is impossible, I say its just annoying

An i5 4460

SSD IMO.

That CPU is fine

If you want too overclock, than go with the CPU.

If you don't plan too, go with SSD than. But SSD's ARE cheaper to get later on though, CPU's not.

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

What GPU are you planning to buy? Imo, investing the money onto the GPU is more important than either option.

At any rate, I find the SSD to be rather unnecessary. Sure, it helps with system boot time, but it isn't THAT big of a deal once you get past it.

Wow, thankfully you consulted us before buying. Build is bad:

  1. The kingston V300 is shjt. Don't buy. Period.
  2. Do you realize there is no place on the case to use a CD reader.
  3. Don't get the 960. It's just not worth it when you can get more.

All of that said, here. This is my build. The CPU cooler was a complete luxury on my part, seeing as you don't need one. But it will look SUPER cool, as it's a white cooler. If you can't afford it, don't worry, you can drop that.

What SSD would you recommend as an alternative?

Would a 280X be a good GPU instead (seeing as I cant afford, nor do I need an 970)

And yes I realise I cant fit the optical drive in the case, Im just going to connect it and have it outside the case in a drawer

Been playing on a laptop for 6 years, I play Dota 2 with 10fps. Some might say this is impossible, I say its just annoying

Any SSD that isn't the V300. They'll all perform pretty much equal, no need to worry. As a personal favoritism over branding (seeing as not much else maters), I like this one: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/a-data-internal-hard-drive-asp600s3128gmc

Uh... how come you post a build costing 692£, but can't afford my 678£ (without the cooler) option? Makes no sense. At any rate, the 280x is also a good choice.. for whatever reason.

Shouldn't you just buy an external USB drive instead? Those look a lot prettier, and you can carry then around. They also come with case for you to store them.

An external USB disc writer? So you it's just normal optical drive that is plugged in via USB?

Note: I don't know if that particular model is any good, but as a proof of concept, you are looking for something among those lines.
