Hey, so when installing a waterblock/backplate I mustve somehow knocked a component. Could someone please tell me how I can find out what this component is that I can order a replacement and solder it in?

RIP R9 290, you can't get an RMA even for that cause it will be labled as user damage.

That looks like a transistor, it's very unlikely you'll be able to find an equivalent one or even find out the exact specifications of that one. You can try calling MSI to see if they can tell you what it is, but it's probably a custom part that doesn't come separately.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

why? Looks pretty generic and relitively huge.

I did alot of elektronics and there are transistor testers with those testers you can Find out what the transistors around it are and when you Find that they are all the same you can replace it with the transistor that the tester finds :)

that's a voltage regulator, if you can read out or see what the part number of that is you can get a replacement online and solder it back on yourself or give it a try doing an RMA.

You would need to replace the original cooler on it, only EVGA really supports warranty if you remove their original cooler for watercooling or other mods.

RMA it. Half the time the RMA centres don't even communicate with the email peoples. Sent my MSI board in and my mobo failed unrelated to a bent I gave it after removing the cpu and they didn't care. My friend RMA a dead video card (died from water damage) and they were successful.
