Online calendar | alternative for Google Calendar

Hello all,

 

I'm using Google services for quite a while, but I want to move away from Google entirely. I do love their services quite a lot (Gmail and Calendar are really good), but I do not like Google as a company nor the way they are collecting/scraping data.

 

Thus I am on a quest to search for alternatives, mainly for google Calendar. At the moment I'm using the webmail from my domain hoster and it's quite okay when using via an local client, but I haven't found an online Calendar application or sync service for my liking. I'm thinking about setting up a webserver with Owncloud for Ical / calendar sync and host it at a VPS or buying a Raspberry Pi (haven't got any room for a full server at home), but maybe you guys have any ideas or recommendations ?
