PC positioning

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

Thanks for the tips, it looks like the tower might just barely fit actually, but I am not truly sure until I actuall am able to try to see if it fits. About the headset, is there anything wrong with the Kraken pro? Any suggestions for a better headset? I plan to get speakers in the future, but for when I first build it I will only be using a headset while gaming.

Well, if it doesn't fit my solution would be pretty decent :D

About the headset, I have listened to it a small bit and have heard from others it is not amazing.

I also heard the mic was not very good, but I guess for gaming it is just fine.

For my PC build, I planned to have the tower below my desk, on a shelf so it would be off of the carpet. Now I found out that the case I am using (NZXT H440 mid tower) will not fit in the shelf below my desk. The shelf is roughly 20 inches tall, and so is the tower. Anyway if I were to place the tower beside my desk, on the carpet then, will that cause any problems with airflow into the case? Thanks for any replies in advance, also any suggestions or criticism on my build is appreciated! http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qwL6dC

It will not make any problems with the airflow, but more with dust and possibly electrostatic discharge.

Maybe you can get a small shelf like thing where you can put your PC on.

Also, the build is fine. But I don't like the headset.

If you don't mount the PSU facing downwards, I don't think the air flow will be too bad. However, it will likely cause problems with very fast dust accumulation and static, which are definitely not ideal.

Have you considered a MicroATX or MiniITX build? You'd be sacrificing expandability and a more tight build may mean it runs a little hotter, but if it means keeping it on your desk, I think it's worth considering. I could throw either size build together for you, if you'd like.

Does the H440 have bottom fans? I didn't think it did. You could turn the PSU upside down and then it wouldn't matter if the bottom is completely blocked.

When you say upside down, do you mean the fan on the PSU is facing up or down.... If the case actually does fit on the wooden shelf, would I be fine leaving the PSU normal?

H440 has that PSU shroud, so turning the PSU upside down would completely suffocate it unless you drilled holes in the shroud.

That is what confused me also, there would be no way for the PSU to get air then... Maybe I will buy a separate shelf to put the tower in..... Thanks for the reply :)

That may be a good idea, but for the upgradablilty I want, I think a mid tower would be best. I plan to buy a second GPU to run SLI, in the future.

Maybe you could put the case on a plank (or so), and then put that on the gound?

Oh yea, I had never heard anything about bad mic quality with the krakens but thanks, maybe I will look into something else then... Also a shelf would work great for the tower, right next to my desk I have a perfect spot where I could put it so it is out of the way while I'm gaming. So if it does fit under my desk than I should be fine otherwise your suggestion of a stand will work out Greta! Thanks again :)

I love mine, I can always hear more accurately than my team is CS:GO no matter what.
