AMD Beast CPU?

Go to solution Solved by Comessy,

Oh dear lord

That thing is not as good as an intel i3 to begin with

Secondly it uses 225 WATTS (that's TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE)

That processor arcitecture is 4 (maybe 5?) years old now

It REQUIRES water cooling

Temps will be above 70c almost always

There is NO upgrade path

Please I beg you not to buy that processor

Hey guys,

I've been browsing through AMD CPU's as everyone uses Intel so I decided I wanted to check them out. I came across this: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=187_1512&products_id=28428it is 8 core and comes stock with 4.7GHz and 5.0GHz turbo. It is much cheaper than most of the i7's as well, I would like to know if anyone here uses this CPU and your opinions on it and if you had/now have an Intel it would be great if you could compare the two.

It's far inferior to the i7-4790K in almost every way.

4790k at 4ghz beats that with temps far lower and better power efficiency.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Although has 8 cores, but don't be fooled with it. It has 220W TDP, also it has weaker cores so for gaming it isn't good (got beaten by i3 in some games) but overall performance is good + you're in budget (but I don't recommend this CPU). No upgrade path because that's the top CPU, it heats up easily if you don't have decent cooler. I'd get i7-4790K if I were you, cost more but performance is awesome or just get i5 instead.

its horrible

one of the worst products AMD ever made...

only stupid people buy those, the kind of people that believe "more cores and higher frequency = better performance"

and AMD fanboys and CPU collectors too

GHz, doesn't equal to performance. It's basically the amount of times per hertz (1/second) that it can do a set of instructions. This is where IPC (Instructions per clock) comes in, even a 3GHz CPU with better IPC can achieve better performance than a 5+GHz CPU that isn't very optimized architectural-wise.

To put it simple, imagine you are the CPU and your task is to move cargo, and can do 5 trips to the deposit per second, a box each time. Now, your cousin, while not that 'fast', is moving 2 boxes per trip, but can do only 3 laps per second; He still moved more boxes, more workload, and has better performance.

Also, not all cores, are the same. AMD's Vishera architecture comes from Bulldozer. While it does have the advertised 8 cores, float ALUs and cache is shared between each module. Meaning that while it can process the 8 threads, for certain tasks cores will be 'fighting over resources'. Not being that great after all; this is why many people says they are 'not true cores'.

Finally, the FX 9590 is not a different processor from the FX 8320 and 8350, the CPU is actually the same, it just comes pre-binned and pre-OC'd from the factory. With a tiny bit of luck, getting a FX 8350 and OC'ing it, will yield exact same result.

Conclusion? Get an i5 4690k. Not because 'yay Intel', but it's on your pricepoint the best choice there is for a high performing system. PCcasegear has it for $329 (cheaper than the FX 9590), and it's just a better performing part, even if it has less clockspeeds and less cores, it still beats it.

^^^^^^ I agree, IPC does matter!

ERROR BEAST AND AMD IS THE SAME LINE

ERROR

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life
