There's a few justifications for these pre-roll ads.

Jay and linus don't choose advertisers indiscriminately. They only use ads from products they want their viewers to know about. So that immediately eliminates "it was just for the money".

They advertise these products because they think they're good. The reason people don't recommend intel SSDs here is because they're not really specialized for our workloads. They're meant for high end raid and long term reliability. They're also only like ~100 MB/s slower than everyone, so it's not like they're terrible.

And the Define R5 is similar, jay probably already had an R5 when the ad went up, but his review wasn't out yet. But even assuming he didn't, it's not like fractal have a long history of messing up, other than in hiring josh, do they?

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

This is how we end up here >_<

At least people come here for build reviews so its all good.

About content... that "is aftermaket cooling worth it" was really shit and would do a little with cpu cooler sponsors lol.

hahah Indeed!

This place really does seem to cater well to that. Although there still is the odd person asking for all the info with no research :P Ahh what can you do.

Hmm yeah not the best choice of coolers, It felt quite different too. But still a worthwhile video to make, it's a title that should net the some great long term views.

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

I think being sponsored to advertise is fine, however, it can and will result in a bias review of a product from the company who maybe sponsoring. Whatever the product that is being reviewed, if there's money involved, the opinion, in my eyes, is already out the window as a biased one. Total Biscuit has done some pretty good videos on the situation within the gaming industry. With topics like being paid to make a review but not being allowed to comment on the bad.

Just take a channel like JackFrags, I know not the same as Jayz2cents, but I think I can get my point across. He was given the opportunity to go out to EA LA to test Battlefield Hardline and be part of the development cycle, then goes onto saying the game is good and one of the best in the Battlefield franchise. To me, his opinion is already tainted, especially now he's on that EA sponsorship to post videos of the game.

I agree, there is a very fine like when it comes to reviewers and advertisement, which is why you should always take, even LTT's reviews, with a pinch of salt. There could be a slight bias in the review, even when they claim to be as unbiased as possible. Heck, just being sent a product, especially for a smaller channel than someone like Jay or Linus can result in a bias review.

However, I do believe that Jay is as unbiased as possible. But it's still wise to be weary.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

"Well that's what I always said I wanted to be remembered for, for being honest. Nothing else is worth a damn"
