Can a 980 stay above 60FPS on ultra settings in 1440p?

maizenblue

Did it look noticeably better with the 4x msaa on?

A slight difference but unless u were looking for it you wouldn't notice the difference when just playing you have to look for it in certain spots, not a big enough difference to sacrifice 20-30 fps, I'd run with 2x there was no difference from 2x to 4x, slight difference from off to 4x

dude, as long as the input lag is less than 10ms, it's fine

If you're referring to response time as input lag, that's not what response time is.

Response time is the time it takes the pixels to change colors, not the time that it takes your signal to get to the monitor.

No manufacturers measure this as far as I know, only good monitor reviewers do.

For instance, the Asus pb278q is listed as having an 8 ms response time, but the time it takes for the monitor to receive your signal is around 16 ms, then after that the pixels have to change as well, which takes around 12 ms.

Thus giving you around 28 ms of total delay.

I know wha tthe difference is, that's why I said input lag as he was talking about FPS games, where input lag is quite important. Please put into context before trying to prove me wrong on a matter.

so because i dont trust bench marks anymore, i went and did a test run of ultra, with 4xMSAA on.. and i was getting 75-90 FPS never droped below 75..

This is why you never go by benchmarks they suck.

The reason you see the dips that low isas because the bench takes a worst case scenario in the sample it uses.

Input lag is fine.. not seeing whats going on when turning is not.

Who even mentioned input lag.. it's a non issue unless you have a problem or buy something thats absolutly rubbish.

Except why the hell would you run MSAA at 1440p. 1440p you dont need AA. i have no problems staying above 60 fps.

I bought a 1440p Swift a couple of months ago. Just waiting for a new GPU. Thanks for letting me know about not using AA. I don't run it now.

Love cats and Linus. Check out linuscattips-fan-club. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z9QDVn and Asus ROG Swift. I love anime as well. Check out Heaven Society heaven-society. My own personal giveaway thread http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/387856-evga-geforce-gtx-970-giveaway-presented-by-grimneo/.
