New graphics card or new system?

Hey, guys this is like my 4th top posting on linus, and loving the community.

So in the near future I am planning to get 2 more 1080p monitors. Which means I will have 3 1080p monitors in total and I want to play on one monitor and do other stuff on the other 2 monitors, like chrome, after burner and other non intensive stuff.

However I do want to record the gameplay sometimes, the games I play are all the new stuff, like hardline, far cry 4, gta v, bf4, and anything good that is coming out in the future.

My specs at the moment:

  • AMD FX6300
  • CORSAIR H60 ALL IN ONE WATER COOLER
  • MSI R9 270
  • GIGABYTE 78LMT-S2P rev5.1
  • 8GB CORSAIR MEMORY
  • CORSAIR 750W
  • FRACTAL NODE 804

I wanted to know if I can just get a new graphics card, and it will be fine, to play at 60+ fps most of the time or if I have to change the system. I would rather just change the GPU since less money spent, but if i have to, i have to.

Thanks Miniman005

Your R9 270 is more then fine for triple A title's. I would suggest upgrading your cpu first to an intel i5/i7 in the future.

If only 1 of the screens will be used for gaming then running 3 monitors won't tax your system much more than just running a single screen. Upgrades are needed when trying to render games across multiple screens.

I am pretty sure you are joking/trolling but just to make it clear for op: Not a single Titan X is needed to achieve 60+ fps on ultra on 1920x1080p monitor.

Edit: I realize that he didn't say ultra but since they are such high end cards I might as well throw it in there.

Yes, but not by a big enough margin that it will matter.

He will still be able to max out games at 60+ fps.

(I have seen the benchmarks for it)

Dont upgrade from an r9 270 to 290x.

Currently, the sweetspot for 1080p gaming is the GTX960/970. Depending on your budget i would suggest picking one of these.

Concerning the i5, are you going to overclock? You can save a little bit of money going for a non-k version, and an h97 motherboard.

That way you can put that money into your GPU.

i am not sure if that card is compatible or not you would have to make sure it fits into your motherboard and case since it is quite a large card, maybe somebody else could confirm if it would or not, but if it is possible then yes that would be good idea.

It's enough to buy 1 gtx 970 for 1920x1080.

980 is totally overkill.
