Why is there hdmi on a mobo and a video card. What's the difference

Motherboard HDMI comes from your integrated GPU if you have one (inside your CPU)

On the graphics card, well, you know....

You can use integrated graphics too, meaning video from your CPU while you have no GPU.

There's no need to use the motherboard's HDMI while you have a GPU in your system.

If it's on the Mobo, its gonna be using the graphics integrated into the CPU (AMD APUs, Intel HD 4xxx, intel iris pro, etc, they are rather located inside your CPU instead of a dedicated GPU), and if its on the GPU then use that, because that is the signal actually being produced by the GPU itself (which is usually a lot better then the integrated graphics, as integrated graphics suck for gaming..)
