I believe MSI is the only one to implement it in one of their boards thus far. Don't quote me on that; seems odd Asus wouldn't be the first.

I believe there're some boards coming out for Z97 and x99 with Type-C and just standard 3.1 type-A.  We can likely expect a ton at the end of the year in terms of boards with 2 or three usb C ports.  But peripherals will likely not happen for -years-, and cases likely not until 2016 or later in 2016.

You must have click "Post" five times. Posting is a little wonky right now so your posts don't immediately appear; refresh the page and it will be there.

2 years for it to be on almost all consumer grade products in my opinion.

well, looks like another 4 years before i build another rig.

things i'll invest in then:

e-ATX because i can fit it,

usb 3.1 type C,

 cheap 64-128GB DDR4 RAM,

a 8-10core hyperthreaded intel processor.

thing's i'll invest in now, while i wait:

quick disconnect water fittings,

more storage,

better monitors,

maybe a third 980 if i find the need.

this 900D case will last me a lifetime hopefully. even if it doesn't have type-C

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

The MSI Z97A Gaming 6 is expected to release in about 2-3 weeks. It offers a USB 3.1 C-type port.

Well, at least i hope that date is correct this time around. Last info was march, now MSI is listing "mid april".

Also comes with the better version of current gen onboard sound and Killer lan. So all the fancy stuff you would want. For a price of 180-199€.
