I just got an HP Blackbrid 002 case. It had a LGA 775 system in it previously. I just switched in my LGA 1155 setup into it, and now my computer is running incredibly slowly. Other than the case, the ONLY changes that have been made are the power supply and the Backplane used for the SATA connections (as opposed to running the drives directly to the motherboard.)

I have an Intel Core i7 3770k w/16GB 2133mhz RAM, GTX 980, and an Asus P8 Z77-V Deluxe motherboard. The power supply is 1100W (I think, I haven't really checked.) anyway, it has enough juice for LGA 775 and a pair of GTX 280s, so I don't think power is the issue...

I just fired up COD4 to see what was up, and I got all of 1FPS... On a GTX 980...

Any suggestions for things I can try? I am completely stumped.

With so many thing uncertain and us not knowing more, I wouldn't begin to be able to tell you where to start. I personally would start by doing a clean install of Windows.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

@ if you didn't clean install windows it probably is because of drivers you'd have to uninstall them and install the correct ones (or maybe you have them but you're running both).

Well for starters lets try plugging the drives straight into the mobo rather than via backplane.

You could also try moving the GTX 980 to the next PCIE slot to see if that does anything.

Just wondering but why switch from a Define R4 to a Blackbird?

And why dump the 1050w 80+ gold psu from seasonic for some random kilowatt from dell?

I like the way the Blackbird looks, and it's the next best thing to the VoodooPC Omen, so I had to have one. The power supply thing was more because it was convenient. I don't know why it would be the 980, as it was literally working perfectly two hours ago. I'll give ti a try though. I'll try plugging the drives directly, thanks!

So, apparently when I was testing the GTX 280's that came with the case, (one of them is dead) one of them removed the graphics driver from windows (the Nvidia control panel option disappeared, and geforce experience would run into an error whenever it tried to run.) So that's a thing. Reinstalling the Driver seems to have worked for the graphics side. Now we will see if the Backplane for the SATA data makes any difference on drive speed. (Oh, also, the Power supply isn't a random OEM one, it's made by a company called power, I think.)

Would you mind taking a picture of the power supply? Also, you would need to reinstall your drivers switching video cards. I've gone from two 660 Ti's to one 970 and I had to reinstall the graphics drivers. Either way, the resolution should look really low. That would be another indication there's a problem with your graphics drivers.

Yeah, I'll grab a picture of it tomorrow. I'll probably end up switching my Seasonic in here anyway, since I like how good it is, plus the 80plus gold rating will help with the power bills since this is going to be my main rig...

Enough juice xD

More like wayy over-juice!

Well, I mean, you know... Anyway, it's running pretty quickly, but I'm gonna grab another seasonic here pretty soon, and then probably sell the one in here currently.
