Hello. I recently just made a thread about an Irremovable Mobo Screw

Is it possible to restore a such badly took care of case to the point of washing it. The case is really good though i cannot replace the front panels, i can remove the old stickers.

I have removed the Standoff that was irremovable with pliers so.. .technically clean, appearance? It is filled with cobwebs and dust i have a can of spray paint, matte black. The rear I/O Panel has been removed. Questions:

  1. I wanna wash it, will that short the circuit out, the circuit of the front I/O plugs?
  2. Advice before i spray paint it?
  3. Oh this is not about cases but ill put it in here: How to wash dried out Thermal Paste, THICK dried out thermal paste without scratching the metal surface on the CPU.
  4. If the case turns out good ill post it here

Few notes:

  • The case CAN BE DISASSEMBLED FULLY, I can remove the top, bottom, sides, and front panels of the case to the point where it is just BONES.
  • No brands on this case
  • The location of the PSU is old school: Top.

Thats all. Hope you guys can help me, i really want to use this case for my next build!

1) remove everything. wash it out. leave it in the sun to dry for about 2 days. make sure it is 100% dry.

2)as above, sand it down to the metal, use aluminum primer and then spray paint it. (i like 500degree engine enamel, but that's just me. )

3)a toothbrush and rubbing alch. lots of it.

deconstruct the case as much as possible before washing.

IMO old school top mount PSU works better sometimes. less chord travel to the 24pin.

OP, seriously sand as much as you can at all angles. this should take an hour or two. but once it's shiney, prime it, give it 5-10 minutes to sink in, then spray it.

prime and spray it on grass, or over lots of cardboard. do NOT let any outside particles get on the paint.

spray it in stoking bursts. moving quick ly from side to side almost as fast as you can with short bursts of paint released during each pass, this gives a more even professional coating.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

updates here. or create a whole build log thread.

newspaper or cardboard are both fine to spray on.

just watch out for overspray. it's when things near the background of the spray get covered in tiny tiny spray dots.
