Any idea why GTA V will need a beefier CPU?

I was thinking about this while reading the system specs the other day. Maybe it's a lot of physics objects? Who knows. Any ideas? And I realize that the minimum is pretty reasonable but an eight core AMD or I7 for recommended seems a bit much.

I hope not. I got a great GPU, but not that great of a CPU. If they optimize it correctly, it will put the bulk of the load on the GPU

Specs say at least a Core 2 Quad, but your i5 isn't far below the recommended one. Amd wise they recommend the 8350 and I only have the 8320, so I'll be putting my h80i to work finally with a bit of overclocking ;)

The amount of interaction that game gives is hugely understated.

Lots of stuff going on,.. esp that you can't see.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

The game will most likely take advantage of all 4 cores (yay that should mean good optimization and nice 60fps).

Your quad core is on low end of AMD FX line despite its high clock speeds. Its comparable to Intel's i3 processors.

With 660ti and FX-4170 u won't max the game out (I have same GPU pretty much) but medium-high settings depending on the CPU performance should give u good gaming experience.

All theoretical as we need to have our hands on to tell if the port is brilliant or not :)

U won't have problems running the game so don't worry. But I would recommend a system upgrade for next year so u can keep up with latest games.
