loading reg hives from external hdd

Hi guys,

 

I have a hard drive I pulled from my old pc, there are some subscription keys that I want to recover from the registry, the question is how do I load the hkey user hive. 

I'm currently in regedit trying to import it but I cant find it. Can anyone give me some ideas on where I'm going wrong? thanks in advance for any help.
