How are people so dead on accurate with the jets in BF3? Some guys out there will shoot me down in about 2 seconds with the mini gun, even during maneuvering. Is it because they use joysticks? It's so frustrating when my buddy and I are trying to fly the chopper and get shot down within 5 seconds after leaving the spawn...

You can fly perfectly fine with a mouse. It's simply practice, practice, practice! That's exactly how I felt in the beginning, best thing to do is just go on small servers and keep flying around in the jet. It might even take a few days or weeks, but you'll get the hand of it eventually ;)

Tell me about it, I have 500+ hours on BF3 now and I still can't use jets. I've tried practice, but with the state of the game now and how good some people are in them, it feels like you're going nowhere. I just stick to the infantry side of things and use ground vehicles.

Go to like 2-8 player servers on caspian border, they usually even have noobs in them. Then just fly around, maybe catch the occasional noob somewhere. I know how it is in the beginning, but seriously the ONLY way to do it is to practice, a LOT. Once you get good at flying around you have to start going against other jets. The objective is to get behind them and not let them get behind you, and that doesn't mean flying in an endless spiral, you have to create a tactic for yourself. Eventually you'll get good at it, then in becomes very fun! I think those are the best parts of the game, jet when playing solo and heli when with a friend.

I do too! But wait! Here comes the level 100 pro jet pilot with rocket pods and takes me out in one strafe while i'm in a tank.

Eh, I'd be more worried about people in choppers than jets while I'm using ground vehicles, and choppers are easy to take out with a tank when they slow down to strafe you. :P

I use the keyboard and arrow buttons for the jet, and sometimes swap out the arrow keys for the mouse for fine aiming. I've never used a joystick/ gamepad, and I guess I'm pretty decent in one and am better of dealing with other jets than ground targets [strange, I know :P]

Best pilots use joysticks or gamepads. Truth is that with mouse/keyboard keeping good speeds in turns it bit hard. Also with mouse, as I have notices, space just isn't enought.
