why not?

They come in plastic and anti-static packaging for a reason. At the very least, find some kind of plastic housing. Your CPU is easily damaged.

They come in plastic and anti-static packaging for a reason. At the very least, find some kind of plastic housing. The pins on the bottom of your CPU are easily bent if not handled correctly.

 

IIRC, that CPU doesn't have pins, the socket does. But OP, they are right. ESD bags are cheap and can save the buyer doing a chargeback from you.

Not much, 2 oz at most. But an esd bag can be had for less than a euro, or just walk into a PC store and ask if they have a spare one.

A cpu is extremely NOT fragile. The only thing that can be fragile are the pins and on an intel well theres no pins.

not sure about the envelope thing

the letters really don't get a nice treatment when shipping, also the thickness of the envelope with the CPU in it might be a problem, more than the weight

Small cardboard box and some foam is enough for shipping. I bought mine as tray packed and thats how it arrived. I'll try to remember to take good pic of the box. It has my case badges now.
