managing fan speed on an Asrock Q1900-ITX

I've got a Nas running openmediavault on an Asrock Q1900-ITX.

I really like my setup and it runs nicely but I've got one problem.

I would like to control the fans from the os (linux).

The board only has got a 3 pin cpu header and I can set the fan speed in the bios (but I don't want to let my fan run constantly).

This would lead me to believe that there must be some way of controlling the fan speed from the os.
