SSD Cache?

Hello!

I have been looking into the Sandisk SSD Cache thing.

Basically it allows you to speed up your hdd by using a dedicated ssd as a cache. That "Dedicated" ssd costs $45, pretty cheap. I use a SSD for my OS, but for games would like a speed up. BFH loads REALLY slow.

Specs in signature.

 

Anyone used ssd cache? If so what r your experiances and does it actually speed stuff up?

its not worth it for games, better off spending a little bit more and just installing your games on an SSD

As @ShadowCaptain pointed out, you would be better off using the SSD purely for your OS and the demanding games. Configuring it as a cache drive would help if you use only a few programs so it has the boot files for those programs (you can't control what goes there - same as SSHDs). I would suggest putting the OS and the most demanding games and applications on the SSD and thus getting the maximum performance out of it.

I've tried a few, when it gets populated (the cache), it actually halts the boot process until it finds the files... which can be longer booting than a normal HDD.

Pretty shitty... and the performance is only 200/90 read and write anyway.

Well the is and softwares are on the Samsung ssd. The cache thing I would get for free (I did chores)

You could get a small SSD for your OS and maybe BFH and keep your other SSD for the more demanding applications. 

SSD Caching doesn't really bring you much benefit unless you use only a couple of programs on that particular drive and their load files are constantly stored on the caching SSD.
