Hard Drive Failure?

So my friend has had his computer for a month now and he has a 750gb seagate momentus that I think is failing, when he goes into computer it doesn't show the disk space and when he goes to enter into the hard drive it takes 2 minutes to load then says parameter is incorrect. Sometimes the hard drive doesn't show at all. Anyone got any suggestions what it is and how to fix?

it willl tell you if its failing

He uses windows 7 professional and he has:

i5 4690k

MSI g45 gaming mobo

Asus strix 970

8gb vengeance lp

120gb Intel 530 ssd

750gb Seagate momentous

Fractal design 600w

I will run the tests tomorrow because its 11:30PM in England thanks guys will tell ya the results

Forgot to say, I doubt he even knows Seagate have a HD utility so no he hasnt

parameter is incorrect.... what does that mean? this a 32bit?

I'm not sure to be honest,never seen a hard drive fail with my own eyes
