First Build, everything connected, nothing happens

Go to solution Solved by zlolslavez,

Hi guys,

I just put my very first pc together but somehow nothing happens and yes I switched Power-Switch to "On".

My Graphicscard has a green LED lit on, but that's about it.

The DVD-Drive won't open, no fans are running and I don't get any feedback of anything....

Well I still have to apply the frontpanel-connectors the right way but still....

Little Checklist of what I've connected:

1. Motherboard is installed, 24-Pin-Connector and CPU-4-Pin-Connector are attached aswell.

2. CPU and CPU-Fan are installed, Fan-Connector is also applied.

3. RAM-Stick and GPU are installed, 6-Pin-Connector is applied to the GPU

4. HDD and DVD-Drive are connected via sata to the mb and and via sata x6 to the psu

5. psu is on

6. Front-Panel-Connectors still have to be applied properly...

7. Fans are applied to the mb

I just think that it is wierd, that the drive won't even react...

Well I first going to find out how to apply the front-connectors properly and write then again.

Until then, maybe you could give me some hints at what I might have forgotten or what I should check on.

Greetings

what?! if this isn't setup correctly IT WON'T TURN ON

Yeah without the front panel connectors, aint shit gonna happen unless you bridge the power switch pins on the front panel connector part of the motherboard.

if you can't figure out the connections, just start by shorting the two power pins somewhere at the bottom right of your motherbpard where you plug in the power connector (with a key, a female jumper wire, or anything else conductive) and see if it powers on. If it does, you're good to go, your system is ok. Now you can check what goes where.

If you still need help, tell me what motherboard you have and I'll tell you what pins to short

well that brings me hope... sorry first time... i thought there might still be more of an activity...

Plug in the power and reset switch into the headers.

The polarity doesn't matter.

For power and reset LED's polarity does matter but you can just switch them around if they don't work.

Refer to your motherboard manual for where to plug everything in. It should provide a labelled diagram.

System: Thinkpad T460

or you can lightly tap some of the power front panel connectors with a screw driver until it turns on :I

ATTENTION: Stupid Question.... I ain't got no monitor yet and wanted to use my hd-tv for the pc until then. I'm trying to connect the pc with a hdmi-cable but... but I get no signal. Not from the MB-Hdmi and not from the gpu-hdmi... . Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah I sound like a stupid little kid crying mommy everytime the sandcastle doesn't hold... but it's my first time so maybe you can have some understanding...please
