Hello,I want to upgrade my processor,So I have an i3 3220 and I make long ass videos(up to 40mins and around 50-60GB) which take about 4-5 Hours to render and I am wondering

What would be the results on an i7 4790k or a 5820k?(diffrent Ram but still)

Cuase I cant really Upload videos consistantly when rendering with this i3,please tell me the results.(I also searched around for benchmarks, but none of them go to that high of a scale)

EDIT:Forgot to mention the priceing in israel is insanity,im talking like the 4790k+Z97 Mobo+8GB Ram(CUASE I NEED IT) for

674.69 USD,or if its cheap,but I think its pricey.

You definitely don't need a 5820k. You need to compress your files better. I know how it feels rendering raw video or images (200gb/hr)

z97 would be just fine to you.

The projects never end in my line of work.

you're fine going with a 4790k + Z97 board.

"Sulit" (adj.) something that is worth it

Thanks but,I didnt quite get the results I wanted,

I need to know specific timings so I can Calculate my productivity.

so Examples like with 4790k=Ex X hours vs the 5-6 I have with mine.

What they are saying is that the cost of a 5820 is far too much for how much time you'll save, unless you got your parents credit card and the money is raining down on you

again,Thanks alot man but I need results T-T

I allready got the fact that the 5820k is too expensive, but what are the results of the 4790k?

Do some math your i3 is 2core/4thread (look at it's speed) 4790k is 4core/8thread (@4-4.4 Ghz) 5820k is 6core/12thread (3.6Ghz)

Do the math yourself take your current render time then just do the math divide it in half(because 4790k has twice as many threads/cores) for 4790k (then figure out the % speed increase from the frequency and do the math from there and repeat)

okay, good idea, quit rendering and go look up online basic mathematics you obviously need it, I just told you how to get around about estimate for what your render times should be

If you have a 2 core, the 4 core will be close to twice as fast, depending on clock speed.

That is what GloriousPain is saying.

To help the others better answer your question, why do you need exact numbers?

It's tough for anyone to provide exact numbers without using the same software, hardware, source setup for comparison. The best they can do is give you basic estimations that they have been providing. You can also extrapolate an idea of how much faster the i7 will be than the i3 by looking at an appropriate rendering/encoding benchmark for the 2 CPUs, and applying the percentage difference in rendering/encoding time for your own projects. This may not be accurate but should provide enough insight to determine the practicality of the upgrade.

5960x it is.

That's ridiculous. Unless you are getting paid for the work, a 5960x is way overkill.

Is this a paid job? If the answer is anything but "Yes, I make a living by doing this", then a 4790k will be more than enough. More cores does not equal more power in everything.
