Building a PC for my Girlfriend

GoodN1ght
Go to solution Solved by SImoHayha,

Hey guys. My GF's PC right now is still my old shitty Dell Pentium D I received like 10 years ago that I gave her and it is starting to die. It's incredibly slow and obnoxiously loud even when doing normal tasks like browsing imgur. I would like to build her something in the 300-400$ range so she can get rid of that flaming piece of garbage (that is due to break down any moment now).

Now I must admit as much as I have researched and gathered knowledge on mid to high end I don't know shit about budget PC's no more.

What could be a cheap CPU/MOBO combo that can moderately game (run small steam games and stuff)? I know a bit about the K Anniversary edition and Kaveri but I can't say I know much else. So please if you do have a good experience a very budget PC for a relative right now do share!

here you are a nice build....faster ram will help the APU greatly as well as overclocking the APU also I got a SSD in the budget as well

I would image looking at AMD's APU's would be your best bet.

i am thinking of a AMD budget build

400 range might fit a 760K and R7 260X/265

*stupid double post...

anyway i will say CPU+GPU wins the day

APU are only good for 720P gaming aka Console quality

860K + 260X will be a good balance

Allright> Il look at all of those but I would probably skip an SSD altogether. Thank you all very much.

Dang at Dragoon 600 W seems overkill LMAO!

APU might cost more to run

and wont be as good as the 260X

note that the A10-7850K iGPU is similar to the R7 250 DDR3

260X is on GDDR5

Yeah I know but my girl doesnt play very demanding games. If she needs to she just takes my rig.

A10-7850K are the best APU you can get i mean it got 512 shaders cores vs 384 of the A10-5800k and A10-6800K

2400MHz are the best RAM for the iGPU to use for VRAM

and add the cooler to keep the APU cool coz the stock cooler just stinks

and A88X chipsets have heatsinked VRMs which will not throttle the APU on load

But but... AMD won the stock cooler competition!

Thanks man. Great help. Ill probably go with something similar.

still the fan is freaking loud

the 212 Evo/Plus monster heatsink will bring the temps down to around 10-15 degrees from stock

the temps on stock cooler cause it to run up to 70-80 degrees on load

But the suggested temps for the APU is actually 60 degrees using air coolers

They did win for being the best at cooling, but noise levels were not mentioned, which is where I feel the amd stock cooler turns into a piece of garbage.
