I want a good mobo for Gaming!

Hi everyone. I'm new here and I don't know too much about PC Hardware. I want to build a Gaming PC and this is my first time. I want to be able to play GTA V in a very good settings, Battlefield Hardline and Arma 3 mainly. I am a console gamer and I currently own the PS4 and the Xbox One, I really got bored from these systems where they make you pay a lot of money when you can build a better PC with it. I want to build a gaming PC that can offer me what consoles can't. I currently own a S22B300N Samsung Monitor running 60Hz 1920 x 1080 but I can buy a better monitor with HDMI. Firstly I want to build the computer so I can spend MAX 900$ and if i could spend less it would be better. I have in mind:

- Motherboard

- MSI ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97 GAMING 5 / ASRock PRO4 ATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97M PRO4 / Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK (Black Edition) Motherboard Core i7/i5/i3 LGA1150 Intel Z97 Express ATX RAID Gigabit LAN (Integrated Graphics) / EVGA Z97 FTW LGA1150 ATX 4 DIMM Dual-Channel DDR3 2666MHz Motherboard 142-HR-E977-KR

Wich one do you sugest me? I have no idea wich one is better and more reliable. I want something that can last and give me a good performance (:

- Processor

Intel Core i5-4670K Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.4 GHZ 6 MB Cache - BX80646I54670K / Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155 - BX80637I53570K Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54690K

Wich one is the best for gaming? Should I get an i7? I mean it could give me better performance at gaming and stuff? Or the i5's are good for the games I want to play?

- Graphic Cards (Here is where I have the big dilema)

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Graphics Cards / EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Super Clocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Card / EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ 4GB GDDR5 256bit, DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP SLI Ready Graphics Card 04G-P4-3975-KR / Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked GDDR5 Pcie Video Graphics Card, 4GB

One question about the graphic cards compatibility. Let's say I purchase the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard, in their website right here "http://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z97-GAMING-5.html#support-vga"it says that the motherboard supports Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 but in the Vendor category it says MSI so it has to be the MSI's GTX 970? Or it is compatible with any GTX 970?

- Ram Memory

- Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (HX318C10FBK2/16)

- Power Supply

- EVGA 500B 500W 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V 500W Power Supply 100-B1-0500-KR

Do I need More wats?

- Hard Drive

WD Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm Internal Hard Drive

All this setup will cost me a total of 1,007.01$ including taxes. I can't spend this much in one hit. So I need sugestions please, I can buy all the stuff but not together maybe in 10 days buy another piece but tell me the most important things to get a computer started with that I mentioned. The hard drive can wait? I have a 80 GB HardDrive that im using right now. Thank you <3

Hi there I'd add your build as a PCPartPicker link, it makes it easier for us to follow.

Anyway what you have is good. And as the comment above me says the motherboard won't actually impact your gaming performance.

I'd also swap that 4670K out for the refreshed 4690K.

Motherboards do not effect gaming performance...

^ This... Intels motherboards don't really effect much anymore since they put so much on the CPU nowadays.. Well... Intel that is... The only thing with intel is you need a Zxx series motherboard to get SLI compatibility if the motherboard even has SLI support since Bxx and Hxx cannot support SLI...

I5 for sure, all no them will be pretty even for gaming, authouhh don't get te 3770k as is us am older cpu and ur upgrade path willl be limited.

8gb ram is fina

EVGA psu's re great 500 watts fine for 1 graphics card

Go EVGA GTX 970 for the graphics card, the SSC is the est bang for buck (also the one I have)

Motherboard, go for a z97 from ASUS or MSI or Gigabyte Or Asrock that matches your needs

As for the msi 970 + other brand mobo, no, all graphics adds are compatible with all brand mobos

Glad too see your leaving th dark side (not literally tho)

Motherboards don't matter for gaming unless you need one with sli support. Get a solid one (an asus z97-a for example, or the msi gaming 5) and don't worry about it.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Something like this?

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($222.75 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($81.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($34.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $929.00
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-03-12 17:23 EDT-0400

If you don't plan to overclock, you can get the 4690 non K version, and save $30. Also, there are other options other than the 970, like a 290, but for heat/power/noise, I recommended the GTX 970.

Your Questions:
CPU - i5 is great for gaming/budget, get a 4690 or 4690K for the OC potential - i7 is geared more towards production work
Motherboard - Mobo's are largely preference, not much "performance" difference. Choose the brand, color, and layout you want.
Graphics Card - A GTX 970 from any vendor will work on a mobo from any vendor - they are not restricted in this way
Memory - Find the best deals; memory speed isn't a big factor for gaming; you can get 1866Mhz same price as 1333Mhz nowadays.
Power Supply - 500w is fine for the 970, although I'd do 550-600w if you plan to do some OC'ing. Also, I'd do 550w-600w if getting an AMD 290 or similar, as they tend to use more power.
Hard Drive - Get a decent 128GB SSD for your OS and important programs, and use a 1TB or similar for mass storage.

Is the 4690K Quad-Core? Sorry for the question if its obvious I know nothing about Hardware :S

What mans SLI excuse me? You mean any Intel Core i5 is compatible with an z97 mobo?

I like your setup but couldn't I purchase 2 x 8 GB Ram memory instead of 2 Pairs of 4 Gb?

I5 for sure, all no them will be pretty even for gaming, authouhh don't get te 3770k as is us am older cpu and ur upgrade path willl be limited.

Wich I5 Quad Core should I get then bro? You have the EVGA 970? Is this one that you are talking about link

I had to leave consoles! I want to experience more in gaming and "next" gen consoles i feel them weak i dont know why. And i have researched, the pc is the masterrace :D I want to play GTA V with mods and stuff

But I have read few bad reviews for MSI and Asus and im afraid of wich one should i get :( MSI Gaming 5 z97 makes me feel good but im afraid

The z97-a is one of the best motherboards you can get in that price range. I've literally never seen anyone complain about it. Same for the gaming 5, I have heard only good things. Trust me, they won't let you down. I prefer asus because i think their bios is superior, but that's partly personal preference.

Thanks once again for answering mate! I will keep in mind then the gaming 5 or the z97-a as you say bro! One thing. Wich is the best Intel core i5 quad processor I can get?

I'll do my best to answer your questions....

An i5-4690K is the "best" i5 you can get, and it's a quad-core. i7's are also quad-cores, but they have "Hyper-Threading" which helps for programs that support using it(like video production work) - for gaming, this is largely wasted(currently at least) - so stick with an i5 for budget.

The GTX 970 is a great card, you will be able to max out all settings on just about every game(as far as I know)...just choose the brand you like best. MSI, ASUS, EVGA,etc; all make dependable products.

"SLI" refers to using 2 graphics cards together; adding more graphics power to your system. I don't think it's necessary for you with the GTX 970, but if it's something you might want...just make sure the motherboard supports it.

As for the motherboard - If you like the MSI Gaming 5 board, then go with that....I chose the one linked because it had a similar color scheme, the "needed" features, and was very well-priced, it had nothing to do with performance. So, choose the motherboard that has the design/features you want.

Yes you can get 2x8GB sticks of RAM for 16GB, but as you were trying to lower the price, I went with 2x4GB so you'd have 8GB running in dual-channel mode(better than 1x8GB not using dual-channel). You can always upgrade to 16GB later using the other memory slots on the board.

If I missed anything, let me know :)

Sure, you can do that. Make sure the two kits are in different channels though, it should work regardless but it will be more stable. The best i5 is the 4690k.

Huge thanks to both of you and everyone who answered my thread. I'm already loving this forum and looking forward to learn more things in here. PC users are definitely more friendly than console users (: I will change my setup and update with a picture of everything. Oh one more thing in the recommended requierements for GTA V i see Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible. Do I have to buy a sound card or that comes with the mobo?
