I have just gotten a GTX 780 in my build. My CPU is an AMD 6200 running at 4GHz, and I have 8GB 1600mHz RAM. My issue is that I'm only getting a max of 60 fps in BF3 without V-Sync in ultra settings, at 1080p, while benchmarks are showing closer to 100. My friend who has the same system but a GTX660 usually gets about 80FPS. Is there something I should be doing? I have the latest drivers.

What games are you referring to? Did you overclock at all? Also, what kind of temps are you getting?

There should be some tin that limits it to 60 fps in the game settings. But if you and your friend have a 60hz monitor you guys are both seeing 60 fps anyway so dont mind it that much if you dont have a 120hz monitor.

OH MY GOD. AMD with a 780. Just quit!

but in all seriousness, check to make sure the 6+8pin power connectors are both plugged in. Open up something like GPUz and make sure that the card is drawing somewhere in the 80% range under full load. Maybe make sure its not running at something like 700mhz while under load,

overclock?

maybe get rid of your crappy AMD cpu!

if everything checks out though you should try running the Unigene valley benchmark. Ill run mine tomorrow morning when I get home and let you know what I get.

Ah, should have waited till the morning to post this. I'll be able to run more tests tomorrow morning. I tried EVGA precisionX, sliding the temperature sliders up, which dropped it to 30-60fps. If you can leave any suggestions, I'll try them in the morning. I know for sure the power connectors are plugged in right, they definitely clicked and have no wobble. I'll post temps and that sprt tomorrow as well.

Btw Vsync limits it to 60fps. ;)

He realizes this, but he may not realize that there's two options to Vsync. Within the control panel and within the game.

I think there is some setting somewhere that has VSYNC on. I think the EVGA program has something that limits the GPU usage for what FPS you want^^

Isnt there adaptive vsync on the nvidia cards. That might be limiting your card to the max hertz of your monitor. if that is the problem then there is no reason for you to worry.

That could be the problem as his monitor could be 60hz and its also limiting and as it isnt in the game he might of not noticed it. I dunno how it works as I havent had a Nvidia card for quite a few years. Honestly I want to buy a Evga card just for the cooler as their cards are beautiful.

I own two NVIDIA cards currently and Adaptive Vsync isn't enabled by default. Just regular Vsync. Not sure what his settings are in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

look in the drivers software and check if you have vsync checked on

vsync is usually bad and causes a butt load of input lag also

If I had one wish, I would ask for a big enough ass for the whole world to kiss

Just making sure. Had 2 friends who thought it was ok to play at low resolution. One had a 7950 running at 800x600 and the other is currently playing with dual 660tis at 1366x768.

Have you been able to run the benchmark on your rig yet? I'm just wondering how it compares.

Well now I seem to be getting good FPS in BF3, but I keep getting "Direct X function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" errors. I am using the 320.49 driver. It doesn't do this every time, just every fourth or fifth game, and it only happens when I first start, during the loading screen.
