MSI GTX 770 PCIE slot help

Kiewiet83

Hi everyone

I need advice please :)

I have a MSI GTX 770 2gig GPU ,I want to know if I can run the gpu in a PCIE X4 slot? The reason I am asking is my GPU is basically touching my CPU cooler so moving it to the x4 slot will give it better air flow and will just make everything look a bit better.

Basically my question is will my gpu be bottlenecked bu running it in a PCIE x4 slot rather than a PCIE x16 slot and if so will it be noticeable?

I honestly wouldn't move it to the 4x slot, you won't get any better airflow as the card dumps the heat into the case.

Thank you

So if I understand correctly I should not experience any noticeable difference by running my GTX 770 on a PCIE x4 slot?

Download cpuid hwmonitor and check the temps of your cpu/gpu under load. If they stay below 80 degrees and are not throttling, there's no point in moving the card. While air flow is good to have, the main cause of higher temps will be cooler design.
