Seems like it is to be a iPad Pro. Basically run full OSX with lightweight highly portable device that doesn't need to be tethered to something all the time.

There is no "target audience".

Apple doesn't follow typical marketing strategies. A normal company sits down with their teams of employees and discusses potential markets, what products they could create for those markets and what those products should be in order to sell well.

Apple doesn't worry itself with all of that. They know damn well that their products will sell, regardless of function, and make them look good so that the people who do buy their products have the ability to give themselves a tangible motive for the purchase of said products.

Tablets have been around since 2001. But they didn't take off until the iPad was released - purely because of marketing and looks.

Ask anyone why they bought an iPad or a macbook or whatever and they will never give you any actual reason why they chose it instead of a competing product. It's like the opposite of Porsche Boxter owners - they always start off by telling anyone that asks why they bought it why they didn't buy a 911. With Apple products, it's the other way around. Of course they'll say they bought it because of build quality, OS X is easy to use etc. but the fact is they are subconsciously in denial of the fact that they bought them on pure impulse. The impulses change (envy, aesthetic appeal etc.) but the fact that they didn't put any thought into the process of purchase remains the same and Apple knows this.

As Jeremy Clarkson said when reviewing the B.A.C Mono - "you can't actually put your finger on the reason for buying one. But you want one, because - like the iPad - it's such a nice 'thing' "

It's almost infuriating how much money and resources are spent on human desire, rather than human necessity.

This is what I think of Pre-Ordering video games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp98SH3vW2Y

Everyone is missing the point, like usual. Apple sells because of build quality, battery life and aesthetics. Those things cost money. If you don't have enough money, work harder, save more or buy a plastic bulky laptop that weighs a ton (comparatively).

I disagree here, speaking from a sales role spending 7 years selling windows and macs (and was an apple specialist for 2 years) -dont forget, not everyone is a PC enthusiast!

Generally Apple users tell you what they loved about their device, they love the design, the weight, they found the OS easier, they loved iMovie and iPhoto etc, that it performs well and is stable, that its battery life is awesome

Then you ask say an Android or Windows user, and they will just tell you how Apple are shit etc

I used to ask every customer (was part of my job) if they had considered Apple, the responses were either "I love their products" or the other response "worst company ever, wouldnt touch one or even try one"

BUT

I am over generalising and my experience is to one store in the whole world and only the customers I spoke to so take that as it is

That's generally my experience also. 90% of the time when someone is bashing apple hardcore like that they have never actually used anything for a decent period of time. It's android/windows fanboyism at it's harshest. Generally speaking, most people see the price and instantly are negative, giving no chance for the product to win them over. They are comparing an aluminum chassis with literally the best battery life in the game and the highest build quality in the game to some plastic pos that has slightly better specs and a cheaper price and will defend their opinion to the end, even though they are comparing a fully loaded Porsche to a base model Toyota. Bottom line, people are cheap and don't want to pay for quality. That's fine and all, but to just bash Apple in every post because they can't afford it gets old.

Yep, I am very tired of it, every single time I see an Apple article on this site, or on facebook, or Cnet, or ANYWHERE, its full of people telling others why Apple are shit

its like FINE you dont like it, fuck off and buy something else then, nobody is going to convince me not to like their products (and I don't even own a macbook, and still plan to buy a new windows gaming laptop because it suits my needs)

its like, I could buy a little Ford Fiesta, it would do exactly the same as my car, probably at the same speed.. but I bought an Audi because I wanted the quality feel, the looks and the generally happiness I get by owning nicely designed and built products, thats why I wear more expensive watches and why my work shoes were £260

If people are happier with cheaper products .. FINE, the price tag is not an issue for some people, the sooner people understand that, the better, Apple understand it, thats why their stuff sells
