Am i being DOSed?

Hello guys

 

 

Im working at a company where the internet speed is almost always 500 MBPS and today it seems to be at http://www.speedtest.net/result/4202044972.pngis our company being DOSed or no? Im guessing most of you are going to say no but...

no, you are not under attack. if you were, your speed would be KB not MB or

there'd be no service (DOS=Denial of Service).

Oh, so it is not a very weak Denial of service attack. Okay then... CALL TWC NOW!!!

No, as someone with background in this area your business is not likely under attack. Reason for that is I can get 10 Gbps off dstat in a split second which would decapitate your companies internet completely. It's not likely that someone is just trying to slow down your connection as that's not the point behind DDoS. They would have to figure out how much bandwidth your company has and then allocate a certain amount of hits so it just eats up most of that bandwidth. It's really more work than it needs to be when a click of a button could take your business offline completely. I would have the manager call Time Warner and confront them about it (it's probably Time Warners fault). It seems Time Warner is always screwing up in my area. In fact they are so bad here I have an amplifier in my home because the signal from the pole is too weak to even hold a connection.

Well, to be fair, all ISPs, even Google to an extent, are charging too much for internet. I'd rather pay $20 or less and have slightly slower speeds than what I have now (60mbps down, 4mbps up, for $39.99 plus tax and junk).

I hope with the reclassification of the internet to a public utility google follows through on their promise to push out fiber hard. Google I can understand a 70 dollar price tag because they are developing a infrastructure while comcast is just maintaining one.

I imagine that at 1Gbps, hard drives will bottleneck your internet speed LOL and personally, I do not let downloads go to my ssd, only my hdd. What a dilemma lol.
