I am picking between a 960 and a 270x, so which one is better? and will my FX-6300 bottleneck either of them.

Why not get this - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125726&cm_re=280x-_-14-125-726-_-Product

It is wayy faster then the 960 and the 270x an donly $20 more.

Or get the 280.

Anyways I think a 960 and 270x would be fairly same performence

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

I can tell by your profile pic that you will most likely be playing planet side 2. No matter your gpu or cpu combo that game will still give you a 50 fps cap.*most of the time* Well anyways I would go for this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202137&cm_re=R9_280X-_-14-202-137-_-Product, it is a 280x for 199.99 best deal eva *rip 960*

get a 280x or 280?, and a fx 6300 should be fine for most games

The 960 is better, I would get a 280/x though, I think that CPU will be fine, I'm not 100% sure though.

just a heads up, some people will say your fx-6300 will bottleneck. this is untrue, I ran one with a 7950, running far cry 4 maxed out at 1080P60FPS.

the fx6300 was overclocked to 4.4 ghz though.

No way you're running FC4 maxed out at 1080p, 60FPS with that setup. My GTX 970 + Xeon E3-1231v3 can just barely run at mostly 60FPS on the ultra preset, with occasional dips into the mid 50s. There is another thread here where 980 owners aren't able to hit that kind of performance either with soft shadows turned on.

Between the two GPUs you listed, the 960 is way better than the 270x. But the R9 280x would be a good buy since it sells for a similar price as the 960 but is more powerful and with more VRAM. I wouldn't worry too much about bottlenecks with an FX-6300 unless you go high end, say R9 290 or better.

canadian prices for that card don't go that low so saying it is a real deal at 199 isn't helpful to the OP
