Anyone have Windows Server 2012 Experience?

If so, I am planning a home server build, low key and low budget to start, Any advice or things I should know to start?

yes

don't fuck up permissions and dont change your hostname once active directory is set up

configure dns on your router properly too, i remember my first crack at WS i set it wrong and i couldn't join the domain or anything and i had no idea what the issue was.

HAVE DAILY OR WEEKLY BACKUPS WITH THE WINDOWS SERVER BACKUP UTILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Do you know of somewhere to learn all of this so I don't mess it up? I definitely would prefer the weekly backup as to daily. In terms of experience setting the router DNS, I have no experience with that and need something that is essentially a walk-thru

Google is your best friend, maybe YouTube.

Or you could do what I used to do,

 

Either that or experiment, and learn from your experiences and mistakes. Try to work it out yourself first by reading what the screen says, then resort to le google.

Do you mean the full Windows Server 2012? Not Windows Home Server?
