Hello guys, I was hoping to get a new alternative GPU since the false advertisement on the GTX 970 and since I have it I want to return it to my retailer and so I am looking for another GPU that is around the same price and that has better performance or in other words any alternatives. I have heard that they want to release a gtx 980ti so they will be dropping the 980s price but I don't know till when. so yeah... any suggestions on what should I do? I know I am a little behind on the GTX 970 stuff, but yeah.    Help is appreciated :)

It's just fine. If the card isn't faulty, they shouldn't be doing any refunds.

As @TheSLSAMG pointed out, there probably won't be a 980ti because it's already fully unlocked.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Realistically, Nvidia isn't going to release a 980 Ti, since the 980 is already the full card.

If you're sure you want to get rid of your 970, you should go with the best AMD card you can get with your refund.

Can you suggest any AMD graphics card with higher benchmarks but budget money ? around 300-450 CAD?

both the 290 and 290x fall under that price range (at least online, not sure about your retailer) but they suck up a lot of power and put out a lot of heat. your pc will be turned into a space heater (not necessarily a bad thing in our winters)

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

I think it's kinda pointless UNLESS the performance of said part is not good enough. Regardless of it's misleading specs, it's a capable card that powers through everything fine even if it was released as a 3GB card.

The 290/290x isn't an improvement, it's too close to call for 1080p. Your looking at a 980 over a 970 for more performance. The 290's are not an upgrade as such... unless your currently at 4K, even then I'd go for a 980.

My PC isn't a space heater.. if it was I'd have changed it up by now......and if your buying a 290/290x/970/980, your generally financially well off to not care about power bill differences of a few cents/dollars either...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Have you tried a 290/290x, most are quite good, not that hot, and not even loud.

~300w of heat has to go somewhere, but yeah the space heater comparison was an exaggeration and just because someone could afford twice the power draw on a component doesn't mean i was wrong to disclose it.

the 290/290x are great cards, especially for that price, but aside from a slight exaggeration,  and if amd wasn't releasing a new line of graphics cards soon i'd seriously consider one of the two. doesn't mean i was wrong to disclose what i did.
