Thinking about next year, i skipping 900series, because year ago i bought GTX 770 , it's useless upgrading now , this gpu still runs everything high-ultra no AA with high frame rate, only gpu worth upgrading in my opinion is r9 295x2 it cost like GTX 980, but faster ofcource its very power hungry , r9 300series just rebranded 200series, r9 380x will be same gpu on same architecture like r9 290x , only r9 390x will be on new architecture, but still, year ago , i could get used r9 290x cheaper than i paid for new GTX 770 IN SHOP, hoping that pascal gpu's will be very efficient and powerful, probably i would take some highest end pascal gpu, maybe GTX 1080 ::DD i don't know, what kind of branding nvidia will use :D NVIDIA did great Job gtx 970 equivalent to GTX 780 TI , just imagine pascal gpu maybe GTX 1070 WILL replace GTX 980 and maybe even Titan X in gaming performance (not rendering) , but it's just my opinion, GTX 980 already almost twice faster than my GTX 770 and it eats less power , great but i don't like price . I think people must upgrade gpu then their gpu can't play even at low settings with playable frame rates, games today even on low settings look great :)

just a side note, i've come across reports stating that amd might be launching a whole new line of graphics cards instead of rebranding. the reasoning comes from the promised freesync support and the only 3 gpus they have that support it right now are the 290s, the 285 and the 260x, which all have massive gaps. it could be that they are going for high risk high reward.

on topic, i'd stick with the 770s for now ya.. but don't expect pascal next year.

CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
