Hey

I am purchasing a Prodigy build and I have just noticed that my CPU socket isn't far away from my PCIe bracket so that means that I cannot get a wide heatsink, else it would touch the GPU and would probably cause damage to it.

I am using this motherboard :

I really would like to put a good fan on it so I can eventually overclock my CPU.

I thought of this noctua heatsink :

But I'm not sure if it would fit without touching my GPU :/

Please help me out guys, thanks in advance.

If you need to, you could get a low profile cooler. Noctua do a pretty nice one that cools quite well (obviously not as well as it's bigger brothers) or you could always go with a closed look liquid cooler, like Antec or Corsair, etc.

If you're set on this air cooler, and can't find any help here. Just give it a quick google to see if anybody else is using this heatsink in an ITX build.

I did google it, and nearly all the Z77 boards have the CPU socket futher away from the PCIe lane, and the place I buy my hardware from doesn't offer good and quality motherboards that put the CPU socket futher away from the PCIe lane.

You'll be fine ;) As long as you orient the heatpipes the other way round.

that one is fine :)

If I can fit that one, should I be able to fit the Noctua NH D14 (due the hight is surely not an issue in the prodigy) it's just the width to the PCIe bracket that makes me feel uncomfortable.

well the NH-D14 has a great chance of blocking one of the dimm slots, and considering you only have two of them, and considering that this is a dual channel motherboard,I feel the NH-D14 isn't exactly right for this build.

I would've taken the front fan off though but you might be right, my motherboard isn't similar to the Z77 series which had better CPU socket placement, for wider heatsinks.
