Specs For modded MC?

Go to solution Solved by dadasmithywinkle,

I'm Getting A Pretty Nice PC And I Was Wondering What Specs Would I Need To Run Decently beefy mods On A MC Server.

Welcome to the forums! The CPU is what matters in MC, so get a GTX 750ti or 960 and a Core i5 or even Core i7. It may seem unbalanced, but it'd be great for MC.

Actually no. MC at heavily-modded level also requires HEAVY single threaded performence

So, i5/i7/Xeon, 8-16GB RAM, etc. If he's running shaders, a GTX 970 or R9 290X would be sufficient, if not an R9 270/GTX 760 or up should do nicely.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 500GB Crucial P3 Plus, 4TB Silicon Power UD90 | GPU: AsRock Radeon RX 9070 XT Steel Legend | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Corsair SF850

Main Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | RAM: 64GB (2x32GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 | Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VII Hero WiFi | Storage: 512GB SKHynix NVMe | GPUs: NVIDIA TITAN Xp 2-way SLI | Cooling: Thermalright Frozen Prism 360mm | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM850

File and Media Server (AOOSTAR WTR Pro): CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5825U | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Silicon Power DDR4-3200 SODIMMs | Storage: 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x14TB Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC530

This depends on your budget, but if I was going to reccomend something for that then this (others may disagree but everyone has personal choice):

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460

Mobo: A LGA1150 Socket that suits your needs but a basic of a ASUS H81M-D

CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO all the way.

GPU:  GTX 760 or 960

Case: Any case that takes your fancy it it your build.

PSU: Corsair CX500M

RAM: The cheapest dual-channel 8GB kit you can get.

HDD/SSD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB and a SSD for OS if wanted.

OS: What ever OS you prefer.

People can add or reccomend different parts, but this is what I thought of just now.

My PC Specs

It is hard to say, It depends on what mods, What you are doing in the background, If the moon lines up with the sun in a 32 degree angle relative to ISS.

Minecraft doesnt always make sense.

i reccomend a 960 super super clocked because it is only ten more dollars and has the performance of a gtx 770 for only $210, very good for a high end budget

I know that.  That's the reason why current intel CPUs are better than AMD cpus for minecraft.  The pentium 3258 is good for minecraft on the cheap.

Modded MC, I dont know bout processors but their GPUS get low frames...

I have a FX6100 and my friend has a Phenom X6 1100T.  The X6 has much better single core performance so he gets 20-30fps more than me with the same GPU (6850).

You do not need a very powerful PC for minecraft even if its modded (Unless shaders) I would recommend Discrete over integrated but that is quite obvious. I have it running on my macbook air which is really underhandedly powerful :)
