Star Citizen Game Info

raxx

So Linus mentioned this game at the end of the last livestream and I had no idea what it was. Here are some videos about it if anyone is interested.

Personally I think this game is going to be awesome. It is done by the same guy that made Wing Commander. You get to play

either in single player mode or in an MMO style pvp mode with a true sandbox game design. They even mention somewhere

that there will be support for Oculus Rift. There is tons more info about this game in the videos so check it out.

The game looks really really good. But at the moment the performance is meant to be terrible. The game apparently won't run with 4 Titans rendering two of the biggest ships together. $ Titans is like 16Tflops a second isn't it so if that can't do it then nothing can.

Don't worry, the expected full release date is likely slated somewhere in Q3/Q4 2014, by then we will have AMD and Nvidia cards that are on the 20nm manufacture, which should give us some pretty drastic performance increments.

I hope they do a lot more performance increases because I hope to get this game if it turns out good, which it probably will.

How can they build a game in the present day if the current tech can't run the game? I don't see how everyone will have the GPU power of 4way SLI Titans and more in just 1.5 years.

SLI quadros (workstation GPUS)

or special server setups with more than 4 GPUs running in tandem.

or working on small bits at a time and only using those setups to see what it'll look like.

also: we're in PRE-PRE-alpha. optimizations galore over the next few years I'm sure. I'd bet they're running without LoD's.

(LoD's are where the # of polys decreases with distance.)

Daily Driver:

Case: Red Prodigy CPU: i5 3570K @ 4.3 GHZ GPU: Powercolor PCS+ 290x @1100 mhz MOBO: Asus P8Z77-I CPU Cooler: NZXT x40 RAM: 8GB 2133mhz AMD Gamer series Storage: A 1TB WD Blue, a 500GB WD Blue, a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Well then this game isn't coming out til 2015 or later if you need that stuff to run it in 2013.

So been on the fence with this game, sounds super cool but with the number of people signed up and the requirements (which are not low based on the average user/gamer hardware) its either going to be a huge game with way too many people trying to get on and use it or it will require Crysis or more level PC which isn't going to allow everyone to get a decent experience with it.

I'm convinced its best to hold out for now till we know more, I really like the concept though.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

I'm planning to do a 2014 rig with an emphasis on this game hanaha I don't mind that it might really push hardware

it will be like crysis or the witcher 2 where the game could not be maxed out at launch by everyone. (I rather that to something like what Diablo 3 did)

Damn so hyped yaayay! I just wish I had the money to spend on it though :(

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

I'd rather have a good looking game that only the highest end workstations can run, than a game that is held back by consoles and ported to PC. Now we can take advantage of an exclusive game to call our own. No more consoles ruining our gaming experience. Just imagine this, with an Oculus Rift, 360° 6DoF roll cage, rudders, joystick, and a full flight instrument kit. I can only dream...

Not true.  If you have a lower-end system with, say, a single 560ti or 7850 GPU then you can run the the game at 720p (on the 1440p monitor you should have).  It will still look great from a distance lol.  Seriously though, by the time this game is officially released there will be a PLETHORA of GPU upgrade options to play this game on 1080p.  Just save some money if you're worried about it...problem solved and then you don't have to go around spewing lies.    :)

It was just what I heard from someone that watched all the Star Citizen live streams. Of course the game will run better when it is actually released.
