5. Include more female characters of color.

I can get this makes sense at times...however there are tons of female characters that don't act like normal women, Lightning from FF 13 doesn't act like a normal gal or well the perception of a normal girl, she is rather cold and dark towards people. Resident Evil some of the females act girly some act just like a dude no problem there.

 

2. I can get that, however sometimes it's female designers that make the characters not just men making the character designs so their could be issues on that.

Almost all of her points just subjective nitpicks. Anita Sarkeesian does not play video games no matter how much she might claim otherwise, this was blatant on her appearance on the Colbert Report a couple of months ago where she dodged questions and changed the subject all the damn time so she didn't give away the fact that she's a shameless con artist.

Plus, again almost all of her points can be applied to female characters in movies as well, why the focus on just games? I don't see her complaining about Black Widow's skintight bodysuit in the Avengers, or any of the Bond girls doing anything besides James Bond.

How about how you conduct yourself? The problem I have with a lot of the people that take the really strong feminist side is they don't debate, they just attack. I didn't once slight women. Hell I don't agree with some of the responses to this thread. Even though I hate anita, it's related to her lies, and the gamergate situation. She's a cancer. I don't take caner lightly. My mother has caner. She's not doing well. My whole life has been turned upside down. It's no joking matter for me. Anita is a cancer.

But this in no way means I am against women or some kind of male pig. Compared to most people against anita, I actually do think games are very male-skewed in a lot of cases. But that's changing, and I want it to keep changing.

People fail to realize this isn't just games, and people paint gamers as these dirty pigs when it's games, movies, tv shows, commercials, sports, hell even anime is very sexist.  

I don't like Anime with fan-service, and I don't like games like bayonetta. (though some friends are really pushing me to play bayonetta and I might cave) It's not some moral standing I have, it's just a personal preference. There are people that like these things. And as long as there is a demand for them, they will be made. Another thing is a LOT of these character designers and artists are females. I found it interesting how common that is. People constantly attack Hideki Kamiya for his game, but fail to realize all he asked for was a "a female lead, a modern witch, and to somehow use 4 guns" from the character designer, Mari Shimazaki. A female created bayonetta, who is usually the #1 attack point for sexism in games. Was she pressured to by a male dominated market/society? 

I don't know. 

But the point is it's a type of content. Just like violent games, and violent movies, these games and movies focus on women as eye candy. There are people who consume this content. You don't have to. The more women that get into gaming, and believe me they are, this will change. And just because it exists, it doesn't make all gamers these disgusting male pigs that they are painted as in the media by these nutjobs/scammers who themselves fail to adhere to their own standards. I'm sure the way to change the way games are is to step on as many toes as possible and attack the target audience as people, right? That'll go over well. 

We don't need to be told what we should want. We're adults. We make decisions based on our tastes and morals, not what someone else says we should do in order to be politically correct. If you want to play a game that's closer to a porno than a game, fine more power to you. If you disagree with it, then don't consume it. I generally don't. Idk why, I love tits and sometimes watch porn like 98% of strait males out there (I don't know what that random 2% I made up is doing with their lives), but like it separate from my games, I feel it takes away from the seriousness of characters. I can't take Major Kusangii seriously half the time in a practical bunny suit, since it is a complete contrast to her character. 

What anita is doing has been attacking those who question the integrety of gaming journalism, attacking gamers as a whole painting them as these group of people that just want to fuck everyhting that moves, and getting on national media and repeating this shit to the masses, and no one that want to keep their reporting job questions her, because they don't want to look like an oppressive male. I am not defending Anita or her politics or her behaviour. What I am doing is pulling into question your behaviour and attitudes regarding this whole situation. Its great that you wish to see things change, and its fine you don't like her, but you hate filled comments only contradict your sympathies you claim to have for the situation. I get it the way she does things really make you angry, but lashing out fuels her points and only gives her more attention and credence when she speaks. So you understand there needs to be a change, then help make it happen instead of writing angry posts about an agent of change.

 

On topic, I do agree that the market must also be part of the process and be in the driver seat of this change. I also agree that how she argues and attacks can and does cause backlash, and she capitalizes on the fame.
