Memory Speed

Go to solution Solved by Hieb,

Memory speed makes a small difference outside of file compression and servers.

In gaming it can make a difference when the game is CPU-bound. These days I'd recommend getting 1866-2133MHz if you have a board that supports it, since these usually only cost $5-10 more than a 1600MHz kit.

The results are inconsistent, but it seems like Haswell enjoys having 1866MHz memory.

So will I even notice a difference in my computers performance if I were to get ddr3 1600 vs something like ddr3 3000 or something else?

The difference is negligible. You wont notice it.

3000? Uhh...

Either way, in gaming there's a small but not very noticeable difference.

So usually it's not worth the money
