New Build In Progress, Need Suggestions

So I started buying compiling parts for my first pc/gaming build ever. So far I bought the i7 4790k with the asus z97a mobo. Next im getting a gpu and ram. I was thinking about the msi gtx 970 gpu and corsair vengeance or g.skill trident x (prob 16 gig). I have about 500 to spend for these two. Any suggestions? Im shooting for about 1200$ budget.

MSI Twin Frozr GTX 970 is maybe the best for silence/performance in 970 series. I would go with corsair, but g.skill will do the work too.

Depending on what kind of cooler you want, you may need low profile RAM. I suggest Kingston Fury. Comes in 4 different colors, and decently priced too. Black, White, Red, and Blue (and all the 1866 ones are cheaper than the 1600 ones...strange...)

A GTX 970 is a great choice. R9 290 is as well. I's suggest the EVGA SSC because it has ball bearing fans and the stock I/O configuration of 3 DisplayPort, 1 HDMI, and 1 DVI.

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 | Fractal Design Define R5 Titanium Window | Phanteks PH-TC14PE | ASUS BW-12B1ST

Corsair and G.Skill RAM will do just fine for you. I personally run 8GB of G.Skill Ripjaw X Series.

As for the GPU, can't go wrong with a 970. Try to go with EVGA if you can.

Specs:

Intel i7-4790K @ 4.7 GHz cooled by Corsair H80i | ASUS Maximus VII Formula |  G.Skill 8 GB (2 x 4GB) 2133 | EVGA 980 Superclocked (Fry) | 128GB Samsung 840 Pro OS Drive | WD Black HDD | 500GB Samsung 850 EVO | Corsair Vengeance K70 | Logitech G502 Proteus Core

I really want to stick w Nvidia. But its mostly a gaming pc. Arma 2+3, dayz, any good game I play. skyrim, darksouls 1+2, gta4_5soon, the witcher 3 when it arrives... I can run all these on my stock hp w msi gtx 750ti card but I want a real gaming pc. I was thinking of getting the gold series msi gtx 970 because I have the msi 750ti and love it. But I heard they have a lot of problems w their gpu so was suggested I get the asus strix. I was also thinking of getting the nzxt phantom or corsair graphite 760t or 730t

looking for PC for longer term usage, id recommend to go for GTX 980, and get the shxttiest RAM possible.

then save up for better RAM. after getting the ideal RAM you could then save up for a second GTX 980 for maximum performance (since you have an excellence CPU). it is something i wished i had done but i went for GTX970at the time.
