Netgear Wireless Range Extender Not Successfully Completing Setup

a week ago I bought my sister a Netgear WN2000RPTv2 Universal WiFi Range Extender to help her deal with the atrocious wi-fi provided by her room mate and owner of the house she is living in (she's using a Linksys wireless-G router). Anyways, while the device worked initially, it then started dropping the connection, and soon would not be able to complete setup. What I mean is that as soon as the device connected to the Linksys router, it would immediately restart the setup process. At the time, the router was in an area which received only 38% signal strength. after moving it to the bathroom, which received 58% signal strength, it still wouldn't work. Does anyone know what's up? Should we RMA the product or try a factory reset?

I've attached pictures. As you can see, the range extender is connecting to computers, but the wireless indicator light won't even turn on anymore. I'm worried it tried to update its firmware, but received too many bad bytes and is now glitched.
