I had been under the impression that my BSoDs were random as well. Then I thought about it. What are you doing every time one strikes?

Playing games? Maybe. That's what I was doing. But my computer plays games well. What could it be? Just ask yourself that.

It turns out that it was from me Alt+Tab ing out of games (which were fullscreen) and going into Google Chrome. Since Alt+Tab ing immediately pulls away processing power from the program, and launches most of it into the new program that is open, (in this case Chrome), it can have bad effects. Especially since Chrome is so RAM heavy.

So basically I was bricking my computer with excessive Alt+Tab ing. Have you been Alt+Tab ing?

Also try monitoring your RAM usage on a second monitor (if you have one.) See if some processes are eating up your RAM.

temps are fine. nothing gets to over 60C when it freezes. temps are not the issue.

Try with one ramstick. If it crashes, try the other. Test the system with each ramstick sepreatly

nvm, trying to think of something

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

Are you sure that everything is plugged in correctly? My friend almost had the same issues by not enough power going to his CPU, I believe he forgot to connect the 8-pin connector for the CPU.

Yeah, that sure is weird. Check the bottom of your case. I used to get BSoD's daily for over a year because I was an idiot and didn't prop up the bottom of my case. (The vent for the GPU was on the bottom and was blowing right into the carpet. Could be something silly like that.

my case has feet on it and is sitting on a wooden table. as far as i can tell everything is plugged in correctly and airflow is not obstructed.

what do i look for in event viewer?

you look for the error which caused the BSOD or shut down

then you google it and find the solution, because there are tons of people who have had the same problem

can you please give a little more instruction? the last time it BSOD it made three events, a warning, a critical and an error. they are very general and say things like "the previous system shutdown at 1:27:49 pm on 2/22/2015 was unexpected"

you should be able to click on them and see the details or crash dump files
